Insurance is so much more than you think!

Do you want to discover more about careers that will excite, challenge and inspire you? If so, a Zurich industrial placement could be just what you're looking for.

Forget any preconceptions you have about the insurance industry. Our one-year industrial placements give you a real job with real responsibility and a taste of life working at Zurich.

With plenty of support around you, you’ll experience how your future career might look and help us make a difference to our customers at a time when they need us the most.

Our industrial placements are ideal for students in their penultimate year of study. As well as gaining some great experience, successful completion of your industrial placement in 2027 could lead to you being offered a place on one of our graduate programmes starting in 2028.

What can I look forward to?

From day one, you'll be working on real business challenges that make a genuine difference. Our insurance solutions help protect everyone from individual customers and small businesses to local authorities and some of the world's largest organisations. Behind every insurance policy is a team of actuaries helping to understand risk, make informed decisions, and shape business strategy.

As part of the actuarial team, you'll learn from experienced actuaries and analysts across the UK and our wider global business. You'll be supported every step of the way, starting with a dedicated buddy before you join, who'll help you settle in and answer any questions as you begin your career.

Within our General Insurance business, there are two exciting actuarial pathways:

  • Actuarial reserving - Help answer one of the most important questions in insurance: how much will future claims cost? You'll use data, statistical techniques, and analytical thinking to predict future outcomes, identify emerging trends, provide valuable business insights, and support capital management decisions. Your work will play a key role in ensuring the long-term strength and stability of the business.

  • Actuarial pricing - Discover how data drives business decisions. You'll help determine the price of insurance products by analysing risk, customer behaviour, and market trends. From improving customer segmentation to developing innovative pricing models and technology, you'll contribute to solutions that keep us competitive while delivering value to customers.

As well as working alongside qualified actuaries, we also provide internal actuarial training to help you understand some of the other work we do, so you can get insight into work that you may not necessarily get a chance to be involved in.

What’s in it for you?
